Rivkah's Column: Ynet-Jewish World

Rivkah Lubitch is a rabbinic court pleader and staff member with the Center for Women's Justice. She writes an (almost) weekly column that is published in ynet:yahadut--yediot ahronot's internet site (previously published in nrg:yahadut). These columns are translated into English and appear on YNET:Jewish World. It is read by 30,000 people each week and keeps CWJ's goals in the media-eye. To access Rivkah’s column in Hebrew, go to nrg’s archives, or the Kolech website.

Here's a sample of some of Rivkah's columns in YNET Jewish World that we have translated into English.

Here’s a sample of some of Rivkah’s nrg columns that we have translated into English:

What would happen if God forbid your husband fell captive, or was injured and became a “vegetable”? What would you do then?

2. Bound and Chained: Why would a haredi (ultra-Orthodox) woman refuse to hear her case in a rabbinic court?

In accordance with its coalition agreements the Justice Ministry is trying to pass legislation expanding the authority of the rabbinical courts to additional areas. Rivkah Lubitch describes how dangerous that will be.

3. An Ordinary Story: About a woman who spent 19 years in the rabbinic court.

A perfectly ordinary story about a woman who feels that the rabbinic courts --for a period of 19 years! --supported her husband’s relentless efforts to destroy her life. These are the years that an ordinary woman would spend nurturing her home and building her family. It could happen to you.
